Carb Strategies for Contest Day. Use carbs on the big day to your advantage!

Last Saturday my contest-day client list had its usual variety: men and women bodybuilders, figure competitors, masters-level clients, first-time competing clients, those in theU.S., and those abroad.  Each week I set aside time to prepare peak week spreadsheets for those competing and though I wish I could say I have a magic formula that brings everyone to perfection; I don’t.  After almost ten years I still have to create a complete strategy for each person, one at a time.

Ab Training - Level II (Intermediate)

Last month's abdominal training article provided a detailed look at the abdominal musculature anatomy. Make sure you review the article in the last issue if you're a new subscriber. You'll want to begin with that level of abdominal exercise to strengthen the muscles with the least risk of injury.

Ab Training - Level I (For the Beginner)

A thirty minute circuit training workout was described in last month's issue of Revolution to start inactive subscribers on a path to better health and a better body. If you recall, the workout progressed in intensity throughout the thirty minutes and included intervals of cardiovascular exercise such as walking and various strengthening exercises.

Leg Training - A New Level

I started out by publishing a "conditioning" training article that is excellent to get your body ready for hard and/or heavy training, then I followed with a description of intensity and an analysis of the squat. Assuming that you're an advanced lifter, I have a workout design that will push you to the edge of strength gain but incorporate high-level muscle work as well.

Maximum Muscle Stimulation

Maximum muscle stimulation is a generic phrase. It's thrown around the gym between guys who have their PhD's from Flex Magazine as they salivate over every new training article promising new gain. Maximum muscle stimulation. How do you achieve it? What is it? There are so many factors in achieving maximum muscle stimulation that it remains elusively undefined by most though parts of it are described everywhere training is written about.

3 Steps to Mega Fat Loss

I received a couple of emails this week from clients I’d love to share with you.  One was from a woman who exclaimed, “Help!  I’m working out like crazy – I burned 1,286 calories yesterday, 759 today, and I’m just not losing!”  Her next sentence was telling: “…and, no, I haven’t been keeping up with my food journaling.”
