Big weekend for clients on the home turf!  The way the awards started, I thought it was going to be a clean sweep for awhile.  Before I list the results, let me answer one question that is on at least some people's minds.  No we don't rig the judging, no you don't have to be a client to win, blah, blah, blah.....John Hansen on Natural Bodybuilding Radio even asked me last week if I help some clients more than others to skew how they place.  WHAT?!?!?!?!?

1) I had to ask Sean the night before the show at midnight who are judges even were so I could make thank-you cards out...I do know them all, but I didn't even know half of them were judging our show.

2) Most weekends I don't even know what shows which clients are in - I have a list of clients for that week and they may be spread out over 10 shows.

3) The judges don't know who my clients are.

My job is to make sure every client is in their best possible condition and I give my time and effort....max effort....to each of them.  Their skill, their genetics, their work ethic, their compliance, their posing.....everything else depends on them.  Obviously we have freaky success with clients for a reason - our skill and support - but it is more than matched by their work and talent.

Sorry for that whining rant, but it just has to be said from time to time and I totally understand why.

RESULTS:

Tyler English pulled out a huge win - actually unanimous, but closer than you think, in the light weight pro men.  Much improved, freaky combination of size and conditioning, better posing and tanning product this weekend - well deserved.

Raphael Calzadilla got third in the same class, giving up 35+ lbs to Tyler and the 2nd place finisher.  Incredible conditioning and stage presence - by far his best contest stage appearance......a life-time best.  And can I say this outloud, Raph?  At 52 years old!

Massive Martin Daniels decided to show up and win the heavies and overall....of course : )  As a long-time friend and client he shows up using his 2008 peak week plan.  After a gentle "WHAT!?!?!?" from me and good look over in our facitily, I think he pulled out a great overall balance of hardness and size, but I'll compare pics in our planning for Worlds.

Darren Haag did great to nab 4th in his pro debut.  Maybe the best, biggest legs in the show - hardest hams and glutes (and that's saying something with English on the stage).

The pro women was won by long-time Team K-er Celia Cadena.  After a decision to switch from figure to bodybuilding, take a longer off-season, and hold onto more size - at 57 years old she came in just sick looking.  Very nice work!

Cindy Meyerhoffer pushed Celia with a great 2nd place finish with her normal hardness and great balance.  I'd have to call that a best-ever look for Cindy as well.

Sandy Dickerson may have been the hardest woman on stage to garner 5th, but this class was tough and she may have just been pushed back a bit on size.  Only 5 points separated her and the 3rd and 4th place finishers.

Sofia Rodriguez is getting a little spoiled with Team K  : )  Her first show with me resulted in a pro card two weeks ago and now a pro title in a VERY tough, 11-woman class.  Great stage presence, a tiny waist, good back/shoulder width makes her a WNBF force.

Jennifer Morakis took second to Sofia by one point - always a tough way to end......ugh; so close.  Great symmetry and balance and even a top-5 at Worlds last year (her debut year) prove Jen is here to stay.

Liz Marcantonio won the American Cup in June and fell to 6th place this weekend....looking even better.  That's how tough this show was.  But, she'll be back for Worlds ready to do some damage - she is a top-tier pro.  Oh, and she just happened to win a Pro Card in Fit Body....that helped the potential sting of 6th.

Another client that felt the pain of just so many great competitors is Niki Delgrosso in 7th.  No question she was poised to do well, looked fantastic, posing improved, but just the sheer depth of the field moved her to 7th.

Alejandra Goncalves, Danielle Small, and Bianca Baker all rounded out 9th, 10th, and 11th being very new to the pros - Danielle and Bianca making their debuts.  All have remarkable muscle too!!!  They'll be moving up.  Bianca even won the Bikini division.

That was the pros....onto the INBF side.....

INBF results:

Rabecca more jumped in with very little time to prepare for this show but still won the open womens bodybuilding.  The numbers were low in this class - only 3 - so her pro card is a rookie pro card - a new type of pro status this year but she can establish it as a full pro card by placing in the money at a pro show within one year.

Scott Fanti, already a WNBF Masters Pro, tried to win his full pro card and his freaky hardness got him all the way to 2nd....so close.  Best ever look, though - awesome!

Kelly Hrabley made a quick decision to jump into the show after almost two years of competing non-stop and placed 5th in open figure....but was sick all day.  She barely stayed on her feet - hope she's feeling better.

Terra Cardwell got 4th in the class with great improvements.  As she gets more experience she's going to move up fast.

Hope Davis missed first place by one point and she will make a great WNBF pro soon.  Very young, but great structure and she's been working hard with Kori on posing and had great stage presence.

In the Fit Body division, Pro Womens winner Celia got 6th - the judges just didn't want all that muscle in Fit Body....a class she would have been great in last year without all the newly added muscle.

Kelly Hrabley got 5th here, Figure Pro Danielle Small got third, Figure Pro Alejandra Goncalves got 2nd, and Liz Marcantonia 1st.  Very good judging to see the ladies being moved up and down between figure, fit body, and bodybuilding - some definite division criteria being paid attention to by our judges.

Eric Sabourin got third in the Male Model division - really good look for this type of competition.  No offense to the other two ahead of him, but they were bodybuilders crossing over and I thought Eric would run away with it due to a much better overall modeling emphasis.

Rose Lansink got 4th in Best Body for the first time ever on stage.  Alejandra Goncalves pulled a second place here.....busy day for her!  As I mentioned, Bianca Baker won the class - a great modeling look across the board for all competitors in this class.

Byron Jaeger got 3rd with his first contest experience in the novice class - great to see young college guys getting in the sport with good muscle quality and potential.  Ryan Koch won his class and the overall novice with a lot of hard work.  May have been winning his class in the open, but I'm glad he hit the novice for his first show to have a chance to get some experience and now move up.

Congratulations to all - fantastic to see the depth of the team, from new and young competitors to the old warriors of Team K and the stage : )  Very well done!
