Natural competing at an NPC show

Hi Everyone,

What are your thoughts on competing as a 100% natural competitor at an NPC show?

Liz

judging the mid america was truly a pleasure...tons of great competitors!

I have done it twice. You can tell the difference between my physique and the guys I was standing next to, but I still one the Light heavy weight novice on my second show. I did not know there was different organizations out there until I was to close to the comp I competed in a few weekends ago. I will be doing one more NPC show in Gainsville, FL on 13th of August since I have my NPC card and dont want it to go to full waist, but then I am doing the OCB Florida state classics on September 3rd. I am excited about very much and hope to meet some great people.

The season is in full swing guys. Time to lock and load for a no-nonsense prep! http://peakofmind.wordpress.com/

Liz,

I got started in the NPC. In 2005 they were looking for different physiques than they are now. At that time they still wanted pretty lean. Then they relaxed the rules a bit for muscle, saying they wanted 20% less. Women now are noticeably softer who compete in the NPC than they want in the natural orgs.

Many of the competitions are not drug tested either. I was often standing next to girls my same height but 10-15 lbs heavier than I was.

Finally, there's a discernable difference between the competitors you will meet backstage at the NPC shows. I couldn't believe, once I started competing in the natural organizations just how friendly and helpful people were. Perhaps things have changed, but I often came back from shows just feeling pretty disillusioned.
