About Dr. Joe

......or as I'm known around the office:  Jose, Joseph, Big Daddiyo, and occasionally on pay days: Sir, Dr. Joe, and "Wow, Joe, you are looking lean!.....are your arms getting bigger?!"

Hmmm......should I put a formal bio here?  Maybe somewhere else on the site.  For now, all you need to know is I've taken 40 trips around the sun and my hot wife of almost 20 years and I have 4 awesome kids...you may see them pop onto the site here and there (my 16-year-old son just dead lifted 275 lbs today - he was excited about that!), my 11-year-old son pitched a complete game with 12 strike outs last week and hit 3 home runs, my 14-year-old daughter is getting ready for freshman golf and softball, and my 7-year-old daughter is likely to out-do the other three combined - pure athlete.  That's the brute side of the clan - all great kids/good students as well.  Okay, back to me!

I have a few degrees like physical therapy, health, nutrition, health education, and some certifications like CSCS and the latest (wow, this was a beast to study for!) International Society of Sports Nutrition, that make me feel like I can help a few clients succeed.  The over 200 pro card winners and 50 pro title winners we've helped in the last 10 years may tell you we know what we're doing, but they don't know we're just a bunch of clowns pretending.  Seriously, you should see our headquarters - 4,000 square feet of just hammocks, flat screens, massage therapists running around....oh, wait, that's the Google headquarters.  We just have computers and squat racks.

When I'm not working with clients, I'm a big reader....that may be why I like to write as well.  I get stuck writing non-fiction, hideously boring nutrition stuff, but some day I'll be a Pulitzer prize-winning essayist or Grammy award-winning song writer - just wait....I'll make mom proud!  I like to read early American history, some science stuff when I need to feel smart, a tiny amount of fantasy (Terry Brooks), some philosophy/theology/cultural work by people who are way smarter than me (I love brilliant minds), social progress books (my biggest current passion is The Shadow Foundation non-profit we have created to help childhood health issues including obesity), and I occasionally read books about writing books.  Stephen King's book "On Writing" is hilarious!  Who knew the guy was funny?!  Currently I'm reading a book of short stories from a freaky Canadian author - how does she come up with this stuff?!

I'd love to stay and chat longer but if I tell you too much about me you'll find out how normal I am - or maybe I only think so - but more soon on the blog.  Since starting this bio I've seen 30 new email come in from clients....don't you people ever sleep?

On a parting serious note, you - our clients and readers, are what make us come to work smiling and not mind long hours and high stress.  We're beside you in your biggest pursuits on the stage and in life.  I truly mean in life - getting to know you is the most rewarding, greatest privilege you can give us.  Looking forward to more time with you; thanks for inviting us on your journey!
